The Role
As a Graduate at SMEC, you'll be part of a high-impact talent group, contributing to the delivery of major infrastructure projects alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists.
Our two-year Graduate Development Program (GDP) is designed to accelerate your growth — combining hands-on project experience with structured learning, mentoring, and exposure across teams and disciplines.
Once completed, successful Graduates move along our Career Pathways, transitioning to their Qualified title (either 'Graduate' or 'Scientist' depending on the technical discipline) and then onwards. Growth is a balanced blend of experience, tenure, development, goals and desired trajectory.

Key Responsibilities
You'll support the delivery of engineering geological projects from day one—contributing to fieldwork, interpretation,
analysis and technical reporting while learning from experienced engineering geologists and gaining exposure to real-world project delivery.
Contribute to the delivery of geology and engineering projects by supporting field investigations, data collection and interpretationParticipate in site visits and fieldwork to develop an understanding of ground conditions and geological risks- including activities such as geological mapping and loggingAssist in interpretation of site data to develop ground models and inform geotechnical design as well as project outcomesCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate geological inputs and support project deliveryLearn and apply industry standards, tools and best practice through structured development and on-the-job experience
About You
You're a motivated Geology or Geoscience graduate who enjoys problem-solving, working in teams, and contributing to real-world infrastructure and environmental projects.
You Will Bring
A degree in Geology, Geoscience or a related disciplineStrong communication and teamwork skillsA proactive and adaptable mindset, with a willingness to learn and take initiativeExposure to GIS, geological modelling software (e.g. Leapfrog), or field data collection techniques (advantageous)
