Your Impact
You will be responsible for providing legal assistance to clients in key practice areas including family law and family violence and civil. Specifically, you will:
Maintain a caseload of routine and complex legal mattersProvide family violence list duty lawyer services in Horsham, Stawell and AraratConduct litigation files and participate in dispute resolutionEngage in legal outreach, education and community development helping to build legal capability and awarenessDevelop, collaborate,
and nurture a wide range of stakeholder relationships to deliver outreach services and support referral pathwaysIdentify unmet legal needs and systemic barriers in the regionContribute to Allied Justice law reform and system change initiatives to improve access to justice.
What you bring
You are a lawyer committed to social justice who has ideally worked within the legal assistance sector or a law firm. You have a naturally empathetic style and can communicate information in a sensitive manner when dealing with diverse clients with persisting disadvantages.
You also have:An unrestricted practicing certificate or are eligible to obtain oneSubject matter expertise in family law, family violence, victims of crime, and/or civil lawAn understanding of working in a trauma-informed frameworkExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary teamHighly effective stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills; an ability to build trust and collaboration with a cross section of the community and sector partnersA current driver's licence and own transport for travel around the region
