About the Role
The Community and Schools Coordinator is responsible for building meaningful relationships that inspire schools, community organisations and youth groups to participate in the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation's programs.
The role actively promotes Leeuwin's youth development opportunities and creates pathways connecting young people with life-changing experiences aboard the STS Leeuwin II.
By developing trusted partnerships and understanding the needs of schools and community organisations, the Coordinator will help increase participation across youth adventure voyages, day sails, dockside programs, charter opportunities and other educational experiences.
As the Foundation's primary community representative, you will create a warm, professional and welcoming experience for schools, teachers, community leaders, families, participants and organisations engaging with Leeuwin.
Working closely with internal teams, you will help convert opportunities to introduce young people to Leeuwin into meaningful participation, strengthening the Foundation's impact and long-term sustainability.Key Responsibilities
Schools and Education Engagement
You will develop and maintain strong relationships with schools and education providers by:
Building relationships with primary and secondary schools across Western Australia.
Engaging with principals, teachers, outdoor education coordinators and wellbeing staff.
Promoting Leeuwin programs as valuable youth development opportunities.
Supporting schools to incorporate Leeuwin programs into curriculum, leadership and wellbeing initiatives.
Maintaining regular communication with education partners.
Identifying opportunities to expand participation across metropolitan and regional Western Australia.
Community Engagement
You will build partnerships that connect young people with Leeuwin by:
Developing relationships with youth organisations, sporting clubs, service clubs, community organisations, local government and tertiary institutions.
Representing Leeuwin at community events,



conferences and networking opportunities.
Coordinating ship visits, presentations and information sessions.
Building awareness of Leeuwin throughout Western Australia.
Identifying recent community relationships that support participation and access.
Program Participation
You will support increased participation across Leeuwin programs by:
Promoting youth adventure voyages, day sails, dockside programs and charter opportunities.
Supporting participant recruitment across all programs.
Developing new participation pathways for schools and community organisations.
Maintaining relationships with referring organisations and program partners.
Supporting scholarship and funded participation programs.
Working with internal teams to maximise program participation.
Systems and Administration
You will support effective program delivery by:
Maintaining accurate participant, school and stakeholder records.
Administering CRM systems and engagement databases.
Monitoring enquiries and program participation.
Preparing reports on community engagement and participation.
Supporting continuous improvement of engagement systems and processes.
Participant Engagement and Voyage Placement
You will create a positive and seamless experience for young people, schools and community organisations from their first enquiry through to participation aboard the STS Leeuwin II.
Your responsibilities will include:
Responding promptly to program enquiries from schools, community organisations, families and participants.
Guiding participants and group organisers through the booking process.




Supporting participants to register and complete required information through the participant portal.
Working closely with the Voyage Coordinator to manage participant placements and maximise voyage participation.
Monitoring upcoming voyages and proactively identifying opportunities to fill available places.
Coordinating participant communications and pre-voyage information.
Supporting scholarship and funded program participants through the enrolment process.
Maintaining accurate participant records and booking information within organisational systems.
Ensuring every participant receives a welcoming, positive and professional experience from enquiry through to embarkation.

Position Details
Employment type:
Permanent Part-Time, 0.6 FTE
Hours:
22.5 hours per week across three days
Reporting to:
Operations Manager, with strategic direction provided by the Chief Executive Officer
Direct reports:
Nil
The days and hours of work will be agreed with the Operations Manager to meet operational requirements.
Some work outside normal business hours may be required to support volunteer events, training activities and voyages. Where practicable, this will be planned in advance.
The role works closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Voyage Coordinator, Marketing and Partnerships Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, Finance Coordinator and other shore-based and shipboard staff.
