About the role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mentor/Support Worker to join a team supporting a 21 year old with autism in the Mount Barker SA area. This is a
casual position,
also suited to persons who are new to the industry/currently undertaking studies.
Positive mindset, engaging personality and caring attitude are regarded above prior experience or certificates.
It may include some evenings and Saturdays, as it offers flexibility whilst making a meaningful difference in the live of this young man. As a Mentor/Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing personalised mentoring, emotional support and practical assistance. You will help build confidence, develop life skills and achieve his personal goal whilst promoting independence and wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
Assist with daily living activities, including some light domestic assistance - personal care tasks are NOT required
Encourage participation in community activities, social engagement and recreational programs
Build trust and rapport, promoting dignity and respect at all times
Communicate effectively with carers and the wider support team




Support in building life skills and working towards their personal goal
What we're looking for
Solid academic background and interest, minimum completed year 12 (incl. ATAR)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds
Empathy, patience and a genuine commitment to improving the live of a vulnerable individual
Reliable transport, including comprehensive insurance and the ability to travel to facilitate transport to activities and appointments as required
A non-judgmental approach and respect for autonomy and choices
Commitment to duty of care
