As our Chef, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality food while maintaining efficient kitchen operations. Your responsibilities will include: Designing and updating seasonal menus that reflect Café RONTO's modern café style and diverse culinary influences. Planning daily food production and estimating ingredient requirements to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
Ordering food supplies and monitoring stock levels to minimise waste and maintain freshness. Preparing, cooking and presenting a wide variety of breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes to consistently high standards. Monitoring the quality of meals throughout preparation, cooking and service to ensure consistency and presentation.
Collaborating with management and front-of-house staff regarding menu planning,



customer dietary requirements and daily service. Preparing meals suitable for customers with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and other dietary requirements. Demonstrating cooking techniques and providing guidance to junior kitchen staff to maintain consistency across all services.
Ensuring strict compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements. Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment. Assisting with rostering, training and supervising kitchen staff where required.
Preserving ingredients through appropriate storage methods and maintaining quality standards. Working collaboratively with the team to provide an exceptional dining experience during busy service periods. Qualification & experience
The successful applicant will ideally possess: Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, Diploma of Hospitality Management or equivalent qualification. At least one years of relevant full-time experience as a Chef (or at least three years of relevant experience if no formal qualification). Strong knowledge of Modern Australian café cuisine.
Experience preparing breakfast, brunch and lunch menus in a high-volume kitchen. Excellent understanding of food safety and hygiene practices. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.
