Cleared are supporting an Australian technology organisation delivering innovative software and digital capability into the Defence sector. Working across cutting-edge Defence programs, they combine software engineering excellence with emerging technologies to develop mission‐critical solutions that enhance Australia's sovereign capability.
The Role
As the Technical Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading the successful delivery of software‐focused Defence projects from planning through to implementation. You'll act as the key interface between engineering teams, technical leads and Defence stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
This role is ideally suited to someone who can confidently engage in technical discussions while driving project governance, stakeholder management and delivery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the end‐to‐end delivery of complex software engineering and technology projects.
Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, resource plans, risks, issues and dependencies.
Work closely with software engineers, architects, DevSecOps specialists and technical leads to deliver high‐quality solutions.
Collaborate with Defence stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements.
Coordinate Agile delivery activities, including sprint planning, backlog management, stand‐ups and project reporting.
Drive project governance, reporting and executive communications.
Manage project scope, change requests and delivery milestones.
Support technical decision‐making by understanding software architecture and engineering challenges.




Identify and remove delivery blockers while managing project risks proactively.
Foster collaboration across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Ensure delivery aligns with security, quality and organisational standards.
Promote continuous improvement across project delivery practices and Agile ways of working.
About You
You'll bring a combination of technical credibility and strong project delivery experience, with the ability to build trusted relationships across both engineering teams and Defence stakeholders.
Proven experience delivering complex software or technology projects.
Previous hands‐on experience as a Software Engineer, Technical Lead or Systems Engineer.
Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Experience managing Agile software delivery teams.
Demonstrated experience working with technical stakeholders and software development teams.
Excellent communication and leadership capabilities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline.
Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile or Scrum certifications) is highly regarded.
