The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging environmental professional to contribute to biodiversity and environmental outcomes in one of Australia's fastest growing municipalities.
In this role, you'll contribute to environmental planning advice and referral responses, and work on a range of environmental projects and programs to support the delivery of Council's Biodiversity Action Plan *******.
Reporting to the Coordinator Natural Environment, you'll work as part of a collaborative team helping to protect and enhance Melton's natural environment as our City grows.
Key Responsibilities
Support environmental planning referrals including Construction Environmental Management Plans, Weed Management Plans, and provide environmental planning advice to applicants and the community.
Contribute to the scoping and delivery of a range of environmental projects including interpretive signage and garden biodiversity programs.
Be an active member of the Natural Environment Team, providing input into process improvements and environmental policies and strategies.
Participate in monitoring compliance against planning conditions and other regulatory requirements including attending site inspections.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
Tertiary qualifications in environmental planning, environmental science, natural resource management or related discipline, or a lesser formal qualification with relevant work skills.
Project management skills including scoping, implementation and consultant/contractor management.
Understanding of State and Federal biodiversity and conservation legislation, Victoria Planning Provisions and the Melbourne Strategic Assessment Framework.
Knowledge of native vegetation management, flora and fauna identification skills, and a passion for protecting and enhancing biodiversity.
Great communication skills and a positive, solutions-focused mindset.
Current valid Victorian Driver's Licence.
