Director AI Transformation
About the Role
The Director AI Transformation is responsible for enterprise-wide governance, assurance, and delivery oversight of artificial intelligence across UOW Global Enterprises.
The role ensures AI is implemented in a secure, ethical, compliant, and value-driven manner, while enabling innovation and measurable institutional outcomes.
Reporting to the Executive Director Business Transformation, and working closely with UOWGE Executive, UOWGE Data and Analytics, Digital Transformation, Governance and Legal, key business leads, and UOW IMTS, this role is central to establishing responsible AI governance, aligning AI initiatives to institutional priorities, and overseeing AI-enabled transformation across UOWGE's global operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Establish, implement, and continuously improve UOWGE's AI governance framework, aligned to UOW AI policy, local regulatory requirements, and global best practice.
Define and oversee AI standards, controls, and guardrails, including ethical use, explainability, model transparency, and acceptable use.
Lead AI risk management and assurance processes, including risk identification, classification, mitigation, and reporting across AI initiatives.
Translate UOWGE strategic priorities into a coherent AI transformation roadmap aligned to student success,
operational efficiency, and growth.
Provide end-to-end oversight of AI programme and project delivery, including intake, prioritisation, business case development, and benefits realisation.
Partner with Digital Transformation, IMTS, Data and Analytics teams and business units to support effective integration of AI solutions into enterprise data, analytics, and technology ecosystems.
Define and oversee AI lifecycle management, including model development, validation, deployment, monitoring, bias detection, drift management, and retirement.
Champion responsible AI principles and lead AI literacy, training, and adoption strategies across UOWGE.
Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will have:
Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, information systems, analytics or a related discipline.
Significant experience leading AI, advanced analytics or digital transformation delivery in a complex organisation.
Demonstrated experience establishing governance frameworks, risk controls and assurance processes, with strong stakeholder management, executive engagement and cross-functional leadership capability.
Strong knowledge of AI, generative AI, advanced analytics, data governance, privacy, responsible AI principles, enterprise data platforms and analytics ecosystems.
Certified proof of right to work in the country of appointment, either Australia or India, as applicable.
Desirable experience includes postgraduate qualifications in AI, data science, analytics or business; higher education or regulated sector experience; familiarity with enterprise AI and analytics platforms; and experience developing AI policies, standards or capability uplift programs.
