Company Description
One Ball is a community soccer program for children and young people aged 5–17 across Melbourne, designed to promote fitness, physical health, and psychological wellbeing. The program is especially focused on supporting participants from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, providing inclusive opportunities to be active and engaged. Through structured soccer-based activities, exercises, and games, One Ball helps participants build skills, confidence, friendships, and a strong sense of belonging. The program emphasizes cooperation, self-control, self-discipline, perseverance, respect, integrity, and fair play, supported by mentoring from coaches. One Ball also aims to foster positive cross-cultural relationships by integrating young people of all religions, cultures, and genders through fun, inclusive sporting activities.
One Ball is seeking a skilled and community-minded volunteer to help us evaluate and communicate the impact of our football programs across Melbourne.
This is a short-term, project-based opportunity for someone with experience or an interest in evaluation, social research, public health, community development, education, social work or a related field.
The role will involve
Attending our programs in Port Melbourne, Cranbourne and Maribyrnong twice at each location




Speaking with parents and supporting them to complete short feedback surveys
Interviewing parents, players and coaches about their experiences
Developing one family case study featuring a parent and player
Developing two coach case studies
Identifying key outcomes, themes and participant stories
Preparing a short evaluation and impact summary for One Ball
We're looking for someone who
Communicates confidently with families and coaches from culturally diverse backgrounds
Has experience with interviews, surveys, case studies or qualitative research
Can turn feedback into transparent, engaging and evidence-based stories
Is respectful when handling consent, confidentiality and personal information
Can attend weekend sessions across the three locations
Holds a current Working with Children Check or is willing to obtain one
This is an unpaid volunteer position. One Ball will cover reasonable transportation and other approved project-related expenses.
The role would suit a university student, postgraduate researcher, early-career evaluator or experienced professional interested in contributing their skills to a community organisation making football more accessible for children and families.
