Salute for Service

Queensland

At Salute for Service, we're dedicated to helping current and former Australian Defence Force members thrive beyond military service. Through our Combat to Career program, we provide personalised career transition, vocational rehabilitation, and employment support, alongside holistic health and wellbeing services that empower Veterans to build meaningful civilian careers.
We believe in supporting the whole person, integrating physical health, mental wellbeing, career development, and community connection. Our multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to deliver evidence-informed, Veteran-centred services that create lasting outcomes and make a genuine difference.
Role Description
We're seeking a passionate Occupational Therapist to join our Brisbane-based team in a full-time hybrid role, combining office-based, community, and work-from-home flexibility.
Working as part of our multidisciplinary Combat to Career team, you'll support Veterans to overcome barriers to employment, build capacity, and achieve sustainable return-to-work and career outcomes. You'll undertake functional and vocational assessments, develop individualised intervention plans, provide return-to-work and vocational rehabilitation support, and collaborate closely with employers, health professionals, and internal team members.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Conducting occupational therapy, functional and vocational assessments.
Developing and implementing evidence-based intervention plans.

Supporting Veterans with return-to-work planning and vocational rehabilitation.
Providing practical strategies to improve independence, confidence and work readiness.
Liaising with employers, medical professionals and support services.
Recommending workplace adjustments and assistive technologies where appropriate.
Maintaining accurate documentation and contributing to continuous service improvement.
Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve positive outcomes for Veterans.
Qualifications & Experience
We're looking for someone who is passionate about helping people achieve meaningful employment and independence.
You will have:
A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy and current or eligible registration with AHPRA.
Solid clinical reasoning and assessment skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
An interest in vocational rehabilitation, return-to-work, or community-based practice.
The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Strong organisational skills and confidence using digital systems and telehealth platforms.
A trauma-informed and person-centred approach to service delivery.
Experience working with Veterans, first responders, mental health, workplace rehabilitation, or community-based services will be highly regarded but is not essential.
Recent Occupational Therapy graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
