About the Opportunity
We are seeking experienced
Application Support Software Engineers
to support a high-profile Federal Government engagement within the
Passports IT Section
.
Working within a highly secure operational environment, you will provide Level 2 and Level 3 application support, systems administration and technical expertise to maintain and enhance business-critical software applications. These resources are critical to maintaining operational capability across a complex enterprise environment.
This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy troubleshooting complex technical issues, improving system reliability and collaborating with development, database, infrastructure and networking teams.
This is a full-time onsite position based in Canberra.
Key Responsibilities
Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support for enterprise applications.
Perform systems administration, monitoring and reporting to maximise system availability and operational reliability.
Investigate, diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, providing technical assistance to stakeholders as required.
Escalate incidents and problems with software vendors, ensuring issues are fully documented and tracked through relevant reporting systems.
Support business-as-usual operations and project initiatives, including software testing and technical solution delivery.
Deploy software releases, patches and fixes in accordance with established change management processes.
Develop and maintain operational documentation, including Knowledge Base articles to support Level 1 support teams.
Collaborate with software development, database administration, infrastructure and networking teams.
Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation and increased operational efficiency.
Adhere to established security, quality and operational standards.
Skills & Experience Required
Minimum
5 years' experience
supporting enterprise applications within Federal Government or similarly complex enterprise environments.
Strong experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, testing and resolving complex application issues.
Experience developing automation using
PowerShell
or similar scripting languages.
Intermediate to advanced
Microsoft SQL Server
and
T-SQL
skills.
Strong understanding of the
Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
and experience working alongside software development teams.
Experience with
ITIL Incident, Problem, Change and Release Management
processes.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
Robust written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business stakeholders.
Highly Regarded Experience
Windows Server administration.
Azure DevOps or similar release automation platforms.
Experience supporting enterprise Microsoft technology environments.
Experience managing multiple concurrent priorities while understanding dependencies and risk.
