Nestled in the heart of Tropical North Queensland, Cairns is a breathtaking coastal city where lush World Heritage-listed rainforests meet the crystal-clear waters of the Outstanding Barrier Reef and offers year-round tropical climate.
Playing a vital role within the Public Health Unit, the Health Worker Advanced – RHD works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, primary healthcare providers and specialist services to improve health outcomes for individuals, families and communities affected by Acute Rheumatic Fever (ARF) and Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD), through surveillance, education, care coordination, health promotion and community engagement, while supporting local needs and addressing barriers such as low health literacy, poor engagement and ongoing health inequities.
