Civil Design Engineer
to join our team in Maddington, WA. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects from concept through to manufacture while working closely with workshop, project and customer teams.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the structural design and engineering of overhead cranes, runway systems and customised lifting equipment, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in compliance with Australian Standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design overhead cranes, runway structures and customised lifting equipment usingSpaceGass, AutoCAD and associated engineering software.
Perform structural analysis and engineering calculations for crane girders, runway beams, support structures and lifting equipment.
Prepare engineering calculations, design reports, technical documentation and detailed fabrication drawings.
Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, customer specifications and internal quality requirements.
Liaise with customers, suppliers, project managers and workshop personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
Develop practical and cost-effective engineering solutions for custom lifting applications.
Review fabrication details and provide technical support during manufacturing and project delivery.
Manage multiple engineering projects while delivering quality outcomes within budget and schedule.
Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, design standards and product development.
About You
Essential
Bachelor's degree in
Civil Engineering
or equivalent qualification.
Demonstrated experience as a Structural Design Engineer or similar role within heavy industry, structural steel, mining, manufacturing or materials handling.
Proficiency in SpaceGass, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
Strong understanding of structural steel design principles and engineering analysis.
Experience preparing structural engineering calculations, technical documentation and fabrication drawings.
Working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently with minimal supervision.
Desirable
Experience in the overhead crane, lifting equipment, materials handling or structural steel industries.
Experience working on mining or industrial projects.
Knowledge of structural steel fabrication, machining and welding processes.
Familiarity with Australian Standards including
AS ****, AS ****, AS **** and AS/NZS ****
.
Experience preparing lifting equipment certification documentation.
Experience conducting site inspections and providing engineering support during fabrication and installation.
Willingness to undertake occasional site visits throughout Western Australia.
