Centre Director. When acting as Director during the Director's absence, liaises directly with the President and Executive Team of the Approved Provider (parent committee).

Full time (5 days per week): 3 days per week as Educator/ 2 days per week as Assistant Director.

Qualifications
Approved Diploma or Degree level Early Childhood Education and Care qualification
Other Requirements
Minimum five years' experience in an early childhood setting, including demonstrated leadership experience
Current First Aid Certificate, Anaphylaxis Management, Emergency Asthma Management training and CPR
Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
Approved child protection training certificate
Acceptance of the role of responsible person (when required) under the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations
Ensure the rights, interests, health, safety and wellbeing of children at all times
Strong working knowledge of the NQF, EYLF, NQS and Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations
Excellent written and spoken communication skills
In addition, Specific Requirements for Assistant Director Role
Have adequate knowledge and understanding of the provision of education and care to children.
Have an ability to effectively supervise and manage an education and care service.

Job Summary
The Assistant Director/Educator is a combined position that balances direct educator practice with leadership responsibility. For three days each week, the Assistant Director works on the floor as an Educator, developing, delivering and documenting a high-quality, developmentally appropriate education and care program in collaboration with children, families and colleagues. This includes time with the director for training and handover to prepare for annual leave days.
For the remaining two days each week, the Assistant Director steps into leadership, supporting the Centre with operational and administrative tasks, and acting in the Director's stead during periods of leave. In this capacity, the Assistant Director ensures continuity for children, families and staff, and contributes to the smooth, high-quality, and compliant running of the service, consistent with the Centre's philosophy, values, and the National Quality Framework (NQF).
The Assistant Director/Educator must ensure paramount consideration of the rights, well-being and safety of all children in all decision-making.
Education and Care of Children

In collaboration with other educators, and in consultation with Educational Leader develop, implement and document a high-quality education and care program consistent with the service philosophy, policies, the National Law and Regulations, the National Quality Standard, and the Early Years Learning Framework (V2.0).
Complete required documentation, including program planning, observations, project work, and daily records, in line with the planning cycle.
Engage in critical reflection, assessment and evaluation of children's learning as the basis for future planning.
Embed culturally responsive practices, including authentic inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, ways of being and knowing.
Plan for and maintain an inclusive environment that respects each child's dignity, rights, and individual needs, including additional needs.

Recognise the diversity of families and demonstrate respect for their role as a child's first teacher.
Build and maintain respectful, authentic and reciprocal relationships with families.

Team Leadership on the Floor
Mentor and support less experienced educators within the room.
Contribute to the development and ongoing maintenance of the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP)/Self-Assessment, including contributing to Assessment and Rating processes.
Model strong communication and collaborative practice with fellow educators.
Communicate the importance of the service as a child safe organisation.
On non-floor days, the Assistant Director supports the Centre Director, Approved Provider and Educational Leader across the following areas of practice.
Educational Leadership
Support the Educational Leader in implementing an inclusive, inquiry-based program guided by the EYLF and the Centre's philosophy.
Support the development, implementation and ongoing review of the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
Encourage professional learning, critical reflection and continuous improvement across the team.
Human Resources
Support recruitment, induction and probation processes for new staff.
Assist in maintaining accurate, confidential HR and staffing records.
Monitor that staff certifications, WWCC and First Aid qualifications remain current.
Support the preparation of staffing rosters to maintain appropriate educator-to-child ratios.
Financial and Administrative Support
Support day-to-day financial processes,
including liaison with the bookkeeper on accounts payable, accounts receivable and fee collection.
Assist in maintaining the Centre's Asset Registry for insurance, audit and maintenance purposes.
Support the optimisation of digital systems for enrolment, attendance and compliance.
Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
Maintain open, professional communication with staff, families and the committee.
Represent the service positively within the local community and sector networks.
Support family participation in governance, events and curriculum.
Child Safety and Wellbeing (Ongoing)
Champion a culture of child safety and wellbeing across all aspects of the Centre's operations.
Actively promote children's rights and voice in decisions that affect them.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the NSW Child Safe Standards and support their implementation.
Ensure students on placement are welcomed, supported, and supervised where required.
Professional Conduct and Learning
Work within the National Quality Framework, the Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics, and the Centre's philosophy, policies and procedures.
Maintain confidentiality of Centre, staff and family matters.
Actively participate in the performance appraisal process and maintain an individual professional development plan.
Engage in reflective practice, professional dialogue and ongoing learning.
Attend and contribute to staff meetings and whole-of-staff professional learning.
Perform additional duties as reasonably directed by the Centre Director, Approved Provider, consistent with the role and scope of responsibilities.

Ensure a safe and healthy work environment at all times, acting immediately on safety issues.
Follow Service policies and guidelines regarding child protection and safe environments.
