About the role:
In this permanent part-time role (minimum 24 hours per week), you'll support children and young people with complex behavioural needs, disabilities and trauma backgrounds to build independence, resilience and positive life outcomes.
Working within DCC's therapeutic model of care, you'll provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive support while building trusting relationships and helping young people navigate challenges through consistency, patience and positive role modelling.
In this role, you will:
Deliver trauma-informed, person-centred care and therapeutic support.
Build positive relationships while supporting trust, connection and emotional regulation.
Assist with personal care, meal preparation, medication administration and maintaining a protected, welcoming home environment.
Support daily living skills, personal hygiene, social development and independence.
Transport young people to school, appointments, cultural activities and community engagements.
Maintain connections to family, Mob and community wherever appropriate.
Complete accurate documentation to support quality care and compliance.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver consistent, high-quality support.
Apply DCC's intensive model of therapeutic care, "The Trauma Recovery Model", to meet the needs of some of our most vulnerable and high-risk children and young people.

About you:
The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children and young people, is a strong role model, doesn't take things personally, and can support children and young people to explore themselves and their culture while demonstrating strong personal values.

We're seeking candidates with flexible schedules, available for a mix of day, night and weekend shifts as needed. These positions require work across 24/7 rotating rostered shifts, including sleepovers, weekends, and public holidays.
What We're Looking For:
Certificate IV or higher in Youth Work or Child, Youth and Family Intervention or relevant in accordance with Residential Care minimum requirements (/)
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes
The ability to remain calm, resilient and professional in challenging situations.
Experience working with children and young people with complex behaviours, trauma, disability or mental health challenges (ideal).
Experience in supporting young people in Out-Of-Home Care (ideal)
Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and LCS Check, or willing to obtain
Current Open or P2 Australian Licence
Current First Aid and CPR, or willing to obtain
National Crime Check, or willing to obtain (DCC funded)
Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) is highly desirable but not essential
Availability to work a 24/7 roster including sleepovers.

What's on offer:
The stability of permanent part-time employment
Guaranteed minimum of 48 hours per fortnight, with the ability to work up to 76 in the fortnight
Base rate starting at $***** per hour plus applicable shift allowances.
No use of personal vehicles whilst on shift
Post-crisis debriefing and suitable access to EAP services
Cultural Practice Advisor's to support you with applying culturally appropriate practices
Professional development and training opportunities provided by suitably qualified industry professionals and trained therapist
