About the role
We are seeking a
Functions and Duty Manager
to join Maylands Peninsula Golf Course and The Hangar on a
fixed-term contract
basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a pivotal management role within Maylands Golf Course.
As our Functions and Duty Manager, you'll be responsible for ensuring every function runs seamlessly, from initial client liaison through to execution on the day. You'll work closely with management, bar and kitchen teams to deliver outstanding experiences for receptions, corporate events, birthdays, community functions and golf events.
The role will provide support across both functions and venue operations, including assisting with coverage during a period of parental leave within the management team. When functions are quieter, you'll step into the venue as a Duty Manager, assisting bar operations and ensuring our everyday guests receive the same exceptional service.
Employment type:
fixed-term contract basis (supporting parental leave cover and ongoing operational requirements)
Proposed contract period:
Mid-August **** to end of August ****.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and execute functions from setup through to pack down.
Liaise with clients before, during and after their events.
Prepare and manage function runsheets.
Lead and motivate front of house staff during service.
Manage labour efficiently to meet service and budget expectations.
Assist with recruitment, coaching and staff development.
Handle customer enquiries and resolve issues professionally.
Drive venue upselling initiatives to maximise function and beverage revenue.
Oversee POS operations and end-of-shift procedures.
Support the management team with venue operations and continuous improvement.
Work bar and Duty Manager shifts as required.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:

Calm under pressure and an excellent problem solver.
Confident leading and motivating hospitality teams.
Experienced in functions, events or venue supervision.
Flexible to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
Previous hospitality leadership or function supervision experience.
Current WA Approved Manager (Duty Manager) card.
Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA).
Robust communication and organisational skills.
