Casual with Potential for Part-Time/Full-Time (full-time availability is preferred)
Join Our Growing Team
At COPE, we're committed to providing exceptional mental health services to NDIS participants in the Perth metropolitan area with a psychosocial disability. Our team of dedicated professionals is passionate about helping individuals reach their full potential. We're currentlyseeking a Psychosocial Recovery Coach to join our expanding outreach team of 25 workers.
About the Role
At COPE, we believe recovery is about far more than managing symptoms. It is about supporting people to live meaningful, connected and fulfilling lives, regardless of where they are on their mental health journey. Our Psychosocial Recovery Coaches walk alongside participants, helping them build confidence, strengthen resilience, navigate challenges and reconnect with the people, activities and goals that matter most to them.
As a Recovery Coach, you will support NDIS participants living with psychosocial disability through a recovery-oriented, strengths-based approach. Every participant's recovery journey is unique, and your role is to empower them to identify their own goals, build on their existing strengths and increase their independence over time.
Working closely with psychologists, counsellors, creative arts therapists, support coordinators, families and other community providers, you will provide coaching that promotes long-term recovery rather than simply addressing immediate problems. At COPE, our multidisciplinary environment means Recovery Coaches are supported by experienced mental health clinicians while maintaining the autonomy to build meaningful therapeutic relationships within the community.
This opportunity involves outreach work in the local community, requiring a full driver's license and a reliable vehicle. The successful candidate will be required to use their private motor vehicle for participant transport while delivering support or services. Travel is a key component of this role.
If you are passionate about mental health recovery, have strong problem-solving and engagement skills, and thrive in an autonomous yet collaborative work environment, we encourage you to apply.
What Makes This Role Different?
Unlike many community support roles, COPE Recovery Coaches work within a highly experienced multidisciplinary mental health organisation.
Our Recovery Coaches are encouraged to think beyond "doing for" participants. Instead, we focus on:
Building hope, resilience and personal capacity
Supporting participants to better understand themselves and their recovery
Developing practical strategies that increase long-term independence
Working collaboratively with participants rather than directing them
Supporting participants to navigate complex mental health systems

Working alongside psychologists, counsellors and allied health professionals to provide truly integrated care
Learning psychodynamic principles that deepen understanding of relationships, emotional wellbeing and behaviour
This is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to develop their mental health career beyond traditional disability support.
Key Responsibilities:
Individualised Support: Provide one-on-one support to NDIS participants, tailoring interventions to their unique mental health challenges and recovery goals.
Goal Setting & Achievement: Work collaboratively with participants to identify, develop, and implement personalised recovery goals, fostering a sense of empowerment, achievement, and independence.
Building Trust & Engagement: Establish and maintain strong, professional, and supportive relationships to encourage trust, stability, and long-term engagement in their recovery journey.
Skill Development & Daily Living Support: Encourage participants to actively participate in their recovery, helping them develop practical life skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidence in managing daily tasks.
Community Access & Connection: Support participants in navigating and accessing relevant community services and supports, including housing, employment, education, and social activities, to enhance their quality of life and inclusion.
Collaboration & Coordination: Work alongside families, clinical teams, allied health professionals, and support coordinators to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to recovery.
Advocacy & Empowerment: Assist participants in understanding their NDIS plan, advocating for their needs, and ensuring they receive the appropriate supports and funding for their mental health recovery.
Crisis Support & Problem-Solving: Identify and respond to challenges, risks, or crises that may arise, ensuring participants have strategies in place to manage distress and maintain stability.
