A well-established Australian real estate investment and funds management business is seeking a Finance Manager - Financial Reporting to join its Sydney-based finance team.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will play a key part in delivering statutory and financial reporting across a diversified portfolio of property funds and related entities.
The immediate focus will be on annual and half-year reporting, external audit coordination, technical accounting and tax support. Over time, the role will also contribute to the continued evolution of the finance function through stronger business partnering, governance, process improvement and the use of technology to reduce administrative effort.
This opportunity is suited to a technically strong finance professional who enjoys working in a cooperative environment and wants broader exposure within a growing institutional real estate platform.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review annual and half-year statutory financial statements across a portfolio of property trusts and related entities.
Support year-end and half-year reporting processes, including preparation of financial reporting workpapers, reconciliations, notes and disclosures.
Coordinate external audit requirements and respond to audit queries.
Identify and resolve technical accounting matters across the portfolio.
Support tax calculations, trust distributions and AMIT/AMMA-related reporting requirements.
Ensure financial reporting is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
Partner with the Financial Controller, CFO,
Finance Managers and wider business to resolve reporting matters and support informed decision-making.
Contribute to the continued enhancement of financial controls, governance and reporting processes.
Identify opportunities to improve, standardise and automate finance processes.
Support initiatives designed to reduce manual and administrative effort through improved systems, technology and AI.
Bring ideas and institutional best practice that support a more scalable and commercially focused finance function.
About You
Experience within a real estate investment, property funds management or A-REIT/REIT environment, with exposure to statutory and financial reporting across property funds or trusts.
Approximately 5–10 years' experience in financial reporting or fund finance within an institutional property or real estate investment business.
Robust statutory reporting experience, including the preparation or review of financial statements, notes and disclosures.
Experience coordinating external audit processes and managing reporting deliverables through year-end and half-year reporting cycles.
Strong technical accounting knowledge, including AASB and IFRS.
Exposure to property trust structures, trust distributions and AMIT/AMMA reporting will be highly regarded.
CA or CPA qualified.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical accounting matters and deliver practical solutions.
A collaborative approach with the ability to build strong relationships across Finance and the broader business.
A continuous improvement mindset, with an interest in enhancing reporting processes, governance and the use of technology to improve efficiency.
