Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive
Accounts Officer
to join our finance team. This role is integral to maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring the smooth operation of day-to-day financial tasks. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting within a fast-paced setting and a strong understanding of financial systems. Knowledge of freight forwarding and logistics is highly desirable, as it will help you navigate the unique aspects of our business.
Key Responsibilities:
Process and manage accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Reconcile and maintain general ledger accounts, including bank and credit card accounts.
Prepare and process invoices, credit notes, and purchase orders related to freight forwarding and logistics services.
Assist with monthly and year-end closing processes, including preparing financial reports.
Liaise with internal teams and customers to resolve billing issues, discrepancies, and logistics-related financial queries.
Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
Ensure compliance with company policies, freight forwarding industry regulations, and relevant financial guidelines.
Assist with audits and tax-related matters as required.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all freight forwarding activities.
Provide general administrative support to the finance department as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
Accounting degree or relevant qualifications
A minimum of 2 years experience in an accounts or bookkeeping role,
preferably within logistics, freight forwarding, or a related industry.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and accounting software (experience with Expedient or similar software preferred).
Experience with invoicing, billing, and financial documentation specific to the logistics and freight forwarding industry.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with numbers accurately.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Desirable:
Solid understanding of freight forwarding and logistics processes, including air and ocean freight, customs clearance, and project forwarding.
Experience in managing accounts related to international trade and shipping.
