Your Recent Opportunity:
Our client is seeking an experienced APS6 Senior Work Health and Safety Officer to support the day-to-day management of WHS governance within the organisation. This role involves contributing to both short-term task planning and long-term strategic initiatives, with a specific focus on event-related WHS matters. The successful candidate will manage moderately complex to complex WHS issues under limited direction, utilising their expertise in the field. The Senior WHS Officer will be part of the WHS team and report to the Assistant Director, Work Health and Safety. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and supportive team environment.
As the APS6 Senior WHS Officer, you will be tasked with the below:
Develop, implement, and evaluate WHS strategies in line with the Work Health Safety Act ****, best practices, and legislative requirements.
Provide high-quality, timely advice and reporting on WHS matters across the agency.
Maintain and enhance the WHS management system (WHSMS), including procedures, risk assessments, and audits to improve safety outcomes.
Analyze complex WHS issues and contribute to policy and project management.
Monitor and report WHS audit results, corrective actions, and compliance to the Executive Leadership Team.




Build and manage internal and external relationships to achieve agency goals and represent the agency in various forums.
Use sound judgment and expertise to make decisions in line with legislation, regulations, and best practice.
Contribute to election preparation and delivery activities as part of the election readiness framework.
Undertake additional duties as directed by the Assistant Director Safety and Wellbeing.
