Litigation (Public Law) | Associate, Senior Associate, or Special Counsel | Open to Sydney, Melbourne or Canberra
For general litigators looking to develop a clear specialisation, a national firm is growing its Commonwealth Government litigation practice and open to considering a range of backgrounds.
The work involves federal jurisdiction litigation, including merits and judicial review proceedings before the ART, Federal Circuit Court and Federal Court, with agencies such as Home Affairs among the key clients.
What makes this different?
The standout feature here is the extent of advocacy exposure. You'll be given carriage of your own matters early rather than remaining in a supporting role on larger files. If you're an experienced litigator doing too much of everything, this is a rare prospect to specialise and enjoy high-level work with a stable client base.
Prior public law experience is not required. A general commercial or disputes background and interest in government decision-making are key.
You'll bring
3+ PQE in commercial litigation, public law, or a related disputes practice
Interest in how government agencies exercise statutory powers
