This position is classified as a PACS Band 7 ($94,417 - $103,538) under the City of Kwinana's structured remuneration system.

As Kwinana continues to grow and evolve, we have a unique opportunity for an experienced Waste Management Officer to join our Environment and Health Services team under the City's Development and Sustainability directorate. Reporting to the Coordinator Environment and Waste, this role provides specialist advice, strategic guidance and operational support to ensure the effective planning, delivery and continuous improvement of the City's waste management services.
As our new Waste Management Officer, you will play a key role in developing and implementing waste management strategies, managing waste service contracts and supporting sustainability initiatives. Using your elite interpersonal and engagement skills, you will work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders to achieve improved waste outcomes for the community.
This role is ideally suited to a proactive environmental professional who has a strong understanding of waste management principles, enjoys solving complex problems and is passionate about creating sustainable outcomes.

What You'll Need
Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Environment or Science.
A certificate or diploma in waste management is highly desirable.
Considerable experience in a similar role and sound knowledge in the application of waste legislation, management plans and service delivery.
Demonstrated ability in applying waste management principles, standards and concepts to achieve desired outcomes
Well-developed stakeholder consultation and engagement skills, with the ability liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including community groups.
Demonstrated understanding of environmental sustainability policies.
Ability to prepare and present clear, concise and accurate reports, including involving data collection and analysis.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and ability to review technical papers, summarise their contents and communicate to Council/customers.
Well-developed analytical ability and skills in creative thinking and problem solving.
A valid WA drivers' licence.
