Are you a technically strong engineering qualified with maritime experience? As the Engineering Lead, you'll work closely with the Engineering Manager and broader Defence Maritime Support Services (DMSS) team to deliver expert engineering guidance across sustainment services. Based at our Garden Island National Support Office, you'll act as a key technical lead, helping shape engineering change processes, documentation, and governance that supports Australia's naval capability.
As Engineering Lead in the DMSS team, you'll make a positive impact by:
Delivering engineering services including change proposals, investigations, and technical support
Providing engineering decision-making under EAL2 delegation and upholding compliance standards
Monitoring vessel material condition, sustainment impacts, and equipment performance
Supporting use and improvement of the Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS)
Participating in audits, risk forums, planning workshops,
and engineering assurance activities
Managing technical documentation and subcontractor engagement for specialised services

You could be a outstanding fit if you have:
A degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field
Strong technical problem-solving and engineering change management experience
Experience leading investigations and delivering root cause analysis in marine or Defence settings
Sound knowledge of AMSA, NSCV, Class rules, and marine compliance requirements
At least 5 years of engineering experience in Defence, maritime, or complex technical environments
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage across technical and non-technical teams
