Principal Adviser Finance Projects
position at Redland City Council!
As a Principal Adviser Finance Projects you'll play a pivotal role in implementing changes to financial policies, asset classes and depreciation models. You'll apply your expertise in accounting standards and asset management to shape the financial foundations that guide Council's future decisions.
Your responsibilities will include:
Lead the review and analysis of complex financial policies, processes and accounting standards, providing clear, evidence‐based recommendations.
Coordinate engagement with internal stakeholders to ensure project recommendations are understood, aligned, and effectively implemented.
Develop and update all project artefacts, including financial policies, procedures, methodologies and implementation action plans.
Present insights, updates and recommendations to senior leaders to support informed decision‐making and project endorsement.
Work collaboratively across Financial Services to integrate project outcomes with broader strategic initiatives and foster a positive, solutions‐focused culture.
Skills and experience:
Extensive experience across accounting, business or finance roles, ideally within local or state government.
Strong knowledge of accounting standards, legislation, regulations and financial policies.
Experience in asset accounting and managing infrastructure asset portfolios.
Highly developed analytical, investigative and problem‐solving skills.
Ability to interpret complex financial information and develop practical, evidence-based options.
Excellent time management skills,
with the ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Confident communicator with experience advising and presenting to senior leaders.
