ABOUT THE MIGRANT WORK RIGHTS HUB
The Migrant Work Rights Hub provides information and education to migrant workers and employers about migration-related workplace rights and obligations.
The Hub helps workers access trusted support and specialist assistance and works with communities, unions and stakeholders to support fair workplaces across Tasmania.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Working within a small team, the Community Organiser delivers community engagement, education and outreach activities across Tasmania, providing clear and accessible information and supporting workers and employers to understand, uphold and act on their workplace rights and obligations.

This is a full time, fixed term role to June ****.
Location:
North or North-West Tasmania is the preferred location for this role, although applications from elsewhere in Tasmania will also be considered.
The Community Organiser will:
Deliver education and information to temporary visa holders and employers on migration-related workplace rights and obligations
Contribute to the development and implementation of community engagement strategies, including identifying emerging issues and supporting project communication
Respond to enquiries, provide information and support referrals to appropriate services where required
Work with community leaders, migrant communities, unions,



employers and service providers to deliver information and education in accessible and culturally appropriate ways
Identify and support emerging leaders within migrant communities to strengthen community education

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
We are looking for people who can:
Work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, such as migrant communities, community leaders, unions, employers and service providers
Build trusted relationships and work respectfully with people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
Deliver workshops and information sessions in accessible and culturally appropriate ways
Keep accurate records and use digital tools to track engagement and outcomes
Demonstrate understanding of union values and the context of workers' rights
Adapt quickly, take initiative, and contribute to a small, collaborative team




It will also be an advantage if you have:
Language skills, strong community connections, or experience supporting and developing community leaders within temporary migrant worker communities in Tasmania
Knowledge of migration-related workplace rights and employer obligations (or the ability to develop this knowledge quickly)
Experience providing information, intake, referral and support services to workers
OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION
Applicants must have a current and valid driver's licence
The role requires regular travel within Tasmania and occasional interstate travel
Applicants must be able on occasion to work after business hours and on the weekend
Applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

Employment conditions include regular Accrued Days Off (ADOs), and 17% superannuation
