Lead Optical Network Data Management Specialist (EL1)
Canberra, ACT | 12-Month Contract + 2 x 12-Month Extensions | Onsite (5 Days Per Week)
Bright Vision Consulting is seeking an experienced Lead Optical Network Data Management Specialist for a Federal Government client based in Canberra.
This role is suited to a highly skilled infrastructure professional with extensive experience supporting CIENA optical transport networks, DWDM Data Centre Interconnect (DCI) solutions, optical networking and data centre environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, configure and support network, server and associated ICT infrastructure within secure data centres.
* Install, terminate and test fibre optic and copper cabling, including rack preparation activities.
* Support the operation and ongoing sustainment of Data Centre Network (DCN) and Optical Network environments.
* Troubleshoot, optimise and maintain high-performance optical network infrastructure.
* Prepare and maintain technical documentation including High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), build guides and operational procedures.
* Coordinate with internal teams, telecommunications carriers and external vendors.
* Ensure all work is completed in accordance with organisational standards, procedures and safety requirements.




Essential Skills and Experience
* Minimum five years' experience engineering, operating and supporting CIENA optical transport networks.
* Solid hands-on experience with DWDM and Data Centre Interconnect (DCI) technologies.
* Strong understanding of optical network architecture, provisioning, testing, optimisation and operational support.
* Experience deploying and managing optical network infrastructure within enterprise or data centre environments.
* Experience with fibre connectivity, carrier lead-in services and end-to-end service commissioning.
Desirable Experience
* Experience producing High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), build guides and other technical documentation.
* Experience working within Federal Government or large enterprise ICT environments.
* Hands-on data centre experience including rack installation, structured cabling and hardware lifecycle management.
* Experience working with telecommunications carriers on circuit provisioning and fault resolution.
Mandatory Requirements
* Australian Citizenship.
* Current NV2 Security Clearance.
* Ability to work onsite in Canberra five days per week.
