About the OpportunityWe are seeking a motivated and driven Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of complex projects within ASC's SSN AUKUS Build Program.
Working closely with the Build Readiness Project Manager, you will play a key role across the full lifecycle.
supporting the preparation of the first of the class SSN-AUKUS build program including mobilisation of the Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard.This role offers the opportunity to manage smaller projects or elements of major programs, including submarine maintenance and capability upgrades, within a highly collaborative and safety-focused environment.
This is a full-time opportunity based in South Australia.
ResponsibilitiesSupport the planning, execution, and delivery of projects within cost, schedule, and quality constraintsDevelop and maintain project schedules, baselines, and performance metricsMonitor project progress, analyse variances,
and implement corrective actionsWork closely with the Program Risk Manager conduct risk and opportunity assessments and manage mitigation strategiesCoordinate cross-functional teams including Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Finance, and PMOPrepare and deliver some of the project reports, reviews, and stakeholder updatesDocument management and process creationBuild readiness workstreams and support readiness reviews Contribute to financial management, including Control Account Management responsibilitiesSupervise and support Project Coordinators and AdministratorsFoster strong stakeholder relationships and a high-performance project culture
About you You may be a Project Coordinator looking to take the next step in your career or an Assistant Project Manager in the early stages of their career looking for a changeStrong knowledge of scheduling (and scheduling systems), Microsoft Project, earned value management, and financial/project controlsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated stakeholder and team management capabilityAbility to work autonomously while driving outcomesUnderstanding of ITAR requirementsStrong coordination skillsA collaborative mindset with the ability to build relationships across diverse teamsAnalytical thinking and sound judgementHigh attention to detail with a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvementCustomer-focused approach and commitment to delivery excellence
DesirableFormal project management qualifications (Diploma or higher)Membership with AIPM or equivalent skilled bodyPrevious experience with risk management software tools
EligibilityThis role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level.
