Townsville Support Solutions is seeking a reliable, patient and professional
Casual Disability Support Worker
to provide individual support to an older male NDIS participant in Townsville.
The participant is generally pleasant, enjoys humour and values respectful, predictable support relationships.
He responds best to workers who are calm, patient, clear and consistent.
The role includes regular
Saturday and Sunday morning and afternoon shifts
.
Applicants must be available for weekend work and able to commit reliably to an agreed roster.
Key responsibilities
The successful applicant will provide assistance with:
Showering, drying, dressing, grooming and skin care
Meal planning, preparation and meal set-up
Medication prompting and physical assistance
Grocery shopping and unpacking
Cleaning, laundry and general household tasks
Organising household items and reducing clutter
Basic yard maintenance
Appointments and community access
Mobility supervision and falls prevention
Secure use of personal-care and mobility equipment
Completing shift notes, incident reports and other required documentation
The participant communicates verbally and can follow directions.
At times, he may use blunt, offensive or sexually inappropriate language and may experience paranoia, anxiety or mistrust.
Applicants of all genders must be able to remain calm, maintain professional boundaries and respond appropriately without arguing or becoming confrontational.
Workers will be expected to follow behaviour support strategies, risk-management procedures and incident-reporting requirements.
Consistency is essential, as changes to routine,



unfamiliar workers or unexpected visits may increase the participant's anxiety and distrust.
About you

Reliable, punctual and consistent
Comfortable providing full personal care
Confident maintaining professional boundaries
Able to respond appropriately to offensive or inappropriate comments
Emotionally resilient and able to remain professional in challenging situations
Able to follow care plans, routines and workplace procedures
Focused and engaged during shifts
Willing to limit personal mobile phone use to emergencies and essential work matters
Available for Saturday and Sunday morning and afternoon shifts
Experience supporting people with psychosocial disability, mobility limitations, personal-care needs or complex behaviours will be highly regarded.
Essential requirements
Applicants must hold, or be willing and eligible to obtain before commencing work:
NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
Blue Card, where required
Current First Aid certificate
Current CPR certificate
Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You
Current Australian driver licence
Reliable, registered and appropriately insured vehicle
Australian working rights
Applicants may also be required to complete training in manual handling, medication assistance, infection control, behaviour support, incident reporting and workplace safety.
