In this contract role, you'll have the opportunity to apply your practical expertise in mechatronics systems design, testing, electronics, and mechanical engineering to tackle complex challenges and contribute to the continued growth of this cutting-edge organisation.
About the Company
My client is an Australian engineering-led marine robotics company reinventing ocean operations with low emissions, long-range surface systems that gather and relay real-time insights—safely, autonomously and at scale.

They are embarking on an ambitious program of building and deploying multiple USVs for operations around Australia and beyond.
The Role
You'll be collaborating with a talented, multi-disciplined team to improve designs, test, and troubleshoot sophisticated mechatronics systems, responding to operational and production requirements to ensure continuous improvement.
Utilising your hands-on experience in building and repairing electronics and mechanical systems, you'll thrive in an unstructured, self-guided environment and make a tangible impact on operations.

The Field Engineer will provide engineering support for the company's Darwin operations and maintenance team.
You will be instrumental in providing expert level electronics and mechanical support to ensure their northern fleet remain on-water and fully operational.

3-5 years of experience designing complicated Mechatronics systems
Proficiency in troubleshooting complex mechanical and electronics equipment, including the use of test equipment for fault finding
Strong understanding of and experience in improving the reliability of systems currently in operation
Ability to read electronic and mechanical schematics to understand overall system architecture and support deep-level fault finding
Hands-on experience building and/or repairing electronics and mechanical systems
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering
Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain an NV1 security clearance
Desirable skills include marine or defence experience, proficiency in SolidWorks and KiCAD, and experience with 24v and 48v systems, low-power solar systems, and marine electronics
N.B. You must be an Australian citizen with the ability to obtain an NV1 security clearance to be eligible for this role.
