About Us
Biodiversity McLaren Vale (BMV) is a joint initiative of local community, industry and government.
An incorporated community group, we work in partnership with members of the community, landholders and government to remove feral vegetation within the McLaren Vale region and replace them with native plant species to rehabilitate the environment.
BMV holds monthly Field Days throughout the year in addition to regular workshops and special events to achieve our objectives.
About the Role
The position of Project Officer within BMV is a diverse role supporting all facets of BMV's operations.
The Project Officer will report to the designated BMV Board Member(s) as nominated by the BMV Board to provide ongoing direction and support to the role.
The position requires work to be undertaken outside of normal office hours and at various on-site locations, and accordingly, incorporates flexible working arrangements, including working from home.
The successful candidate is expected to:
build positive, effective and strong ongoing working relationships with all BMV partners and stakeholders; and
strive to achieve the best possible outcomes for improving biodiversity in our local environment, in accordance with our objectives.
The position is currently a part-time role of 0.8 FTE hours.
Core Functions of the Role
Planning, managing and co-ordinating the efficient and effective delivery of BMV's various programs and activities, including our Field Day and Weedy Wednesday calendar events;
Organising and managing supplies, planting materials, equipment and other resources for work to be carried out at BMV activities;
Scoping, developing and facilitating BMV projects across the McLaren Vale region,
Co-ordinating contractors as required;
Attending Field Day and Weedy Wednesday activities;




Attending monthly committee meetings and reporting to the BMV Management Group;
Actively seeking and pursuing improvement in processes, funding streams, operations and otherwise to achieve the best possible outcomes of BMV's objectives; and
Managing media, communications and education programs on behalf of BMV.
Skills Required
Essential
Current South Australian driver's licence
Valid South Australian Working With Children Check
Knowledge of, and a passion for, environmental and/or land care work and a commitment to environmental conservation and regeneration
Demonstrated experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders and within defined timelines
Demonstrated experience in grant administration and implementation of funded projects
Proven ability to engage diverse stakeholders including funding partners, volunteers, contractors, government
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to write clear reports and submissions
Demonstrated ability to take direction effectively, including feedback
Desirable
Successful completion of environmental courses and/or qualifications
Relevant Project Management qualifications
Knowledge of the McLaren Vale region's indigenous native species, various weeds and weed management techniques
Experience working with community and volunteer groups, with a demonstrated ability to effectively engage and involve the community in a range of programs, events and activities
