About the service
The Alice Springs Medicare Mental Health Centre gives the local community a genuine alternative to the emergency department.
It's a free, walk-in service offering immediate, short and medium-term support to adults experiencing mental health crisis —open extended hours, no referral, no cost.
The Centre is delivered by a national community mental health provider in partnership with a leading Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation, and practice is grounded in cultural safety, trauma-informed care and recovery-oriented principles.
Clinical and lived experience staff work side by side in a high-engagement, multidisciplinary crisis model.
About the role
As Mental Health Clinician you'll be the clinical anchor for guests presenting to the Centre completing brief and comprehensive assessments, developing collaborative care plans, and delivering evidence-based therapeutic support over a 3-6 month window.

Reporting to the Clinical Service Manager and Clinical Lead, you'll have real professional autonomy alongside strong clinical governance and supervision.
Day to day you will:
Engage guests using a strengths-based approach and build trusting, professional relationships
Complete intake, brief and detailed clinical assessments and co-create care and safety plans
Deliver short to medium-term evidence-based clinical intervention, plus exit planning
Provide outreach support where appropriate, maintaining safety
Work with interpreters and deliver culturally responsive support to guests from diverse backgrounds
Contribute to service data collection, quality improvement and service development
