The role
Own the administration, reliability and security of the Company's core systems and cloud platforms, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure and Azure Virtual Desktop, identity and endpoint management, servers, backups, and selected business applications, including approved AI platforms
Operate with a high degree of autonomy under broad direction from the IT Manager
Combine systems administration with a solid cybersecurity focus and act as the operational owner of the Company's day-to-day cybersecurity operations, including threat monitoring and response, maintenance of security tooling, coordination of security vendors, vulnerability remediation and continuous hardening of the environment
Plan and deliver systems administration, technology lifecycle, security hardening and technical incident response activities
Coordinate managed service providers and specialist vendors; and provide senior technical escalation support
Lead the technical delivery of approved cybersecurity uplift initiatives, including Essential Eight maturity improvements
Technical input to policy, risk, assurance and governance activities, and provide technical guidance and mentoring to the Workplace Technology Assistant
Work closely with the IT Operations Superintendent and site IT team to maintain consistent, secure and reliable technology services across corporate and remote-site environments
About you
Tertiary qualification in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
Minimum of five years' experience in systems administration or a similar role, including demonstrated responsibility for business-critical production systems and the ability to operate autonomously
Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Azure environments
Experience with Windows Server administration, Active Directory, and hybrid identity (Entra Connect)
Demonstrated experience in security operations, including alert triage, incident response, and vulnerability management
Working knowledge of identity security controls (MFA, Conditional Access, privileged access management)
Experience managing backup and recovery solutions, including restore testing
Solid networking fundamentals (VLANs, subnetting, DHCP, DNS) and exposure to firewalls and VPN technologies
Scripting and automation capability, particularly PowerShell
Ability to communicate technical and cybersecurity matters clearly and effectively to a broad range of stakeholders
Ability to prioritise competing operational, project and cybersecurity requirements in a business-critical environment
Demonstrated ability to independently identify, prioritise and deliver systems and cybersecurity improvements
Current Australian manual driver's licence
Willingness to travel to remote mine sites periodically
