The role of Trek's Therapeutic Programs Coordinator is to oversee and lead a team of multi-disciplined professionals in delivering small group, nature-based, therapeutic programs & individual therapy, offering frameworks for healing, recovery, skill development, capacity building, and genuine next-step pathways.Trek leads the way, supporting young people and their families in experiencing purpose, strength, connection and belonging through Trek Therapies & Trek Experiences.The Vision: Equal opportunity for children & young people facing personal barriers to successfully achieve their education, health, wellbeing and community belonging goals.The Mission: To acknowledge & address the barriers that exist for those who have experienced trauma, disadvantage, and ill mental or physical health.Position Purpose:The Programs and NDIS Coordinator plays a key role in the design, delivery, and coordination of Trek's transformative nature-based therapeutic programs & individual therapy.This role ensures participants, including those supported by the NDIS, experience safe, inclusive, and empowering journeys that align with the tenets of Trek: Empowerment, Growth, Change.
Through trauma & ill mental health recovery frameworks, real-time therapy, social connection, capacity building and personal growth, the Programs Coordinator oversees the Trek team to ensure individualised therapeutic program planning and delivery for each child and young person is developed and delivered.Trek's Program Coordinator works across program planning, participant engagement, compliance, and stakeholder relationships, ensuring that Trek programs & individual therapy meet participants' personal needs and goals and align with NDIS requirements and quality standards where relevant.Key Responsibilities• Coordinate the delivery of Trek programs, ensuring smooth operations, overseeing a small team of therapeutic practitioners in program delivery, case management, and individual therapy.
• Support therapeutic intervention for vulnerable children, young people and families across all programs, ensuring the successful, innovative and engaging delivery of recovery-based, healing programs.
• Understand and ensure the team work within attachment, poly-vagal, proprioceptive, neuroceptive and interoceptive recovery-based frameworks in an outdoor environment• Collect and analyse program data to inform continuous improvement.
• Act as the primary point of contact for NDIS participants, families, and support coordinators.
• Support participants to exercise choice and control in program engagement, utilising intake, review and feedback processes.
• Ensure all programs and services align with NDIS Practice Standards and participant plan goals where applicable.
• Maintain & oversee accurate records, reporting, and compliance documentation through a case management lens.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with participants, families, support coordinators, and partner organisations.
• Represent Trek at community, professional,
and sector events as required.
• Manage participant onboarding, feedback, and exit processes.
• Prepare reports, case notes, and impact measures as required.Qualifications:• Psychologist/Counsellor• Outdoor Education• Teaching• Community Service• Youth Work• Social Work• Mental Health ClinicianProfessional Experience:• Program coordination or service delivery in community, education, or disability services.
• Working with children, teens and families in small groups and individual delivery/therapy• Art, nature-based therapy, permaculture, cooking, building or creative endeavours, outdoor education, outdoor wellbeing & therapeutic program delivery.
• Strong trauma recovery skills, understanding frameworks, evaluation, and report writing within a therapeutic context.
• Providing 1:1 therapy with children and young people in outdoor & therapeutic environments• Knowledge of the NDIS, including participant pathways, funding categories, and compliance standards.
• Demonstrated organisational and administrative skills requiring attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport across teams, participants, families, other service providers.
• Demonstrated experience & ability to work independently, as part of a team and as a team leader who can delegate and manage time.

Safety is our primary objective- this includes emotional safety and wellbeing, safe workspaces, correct PPE to be used, work area safety checks undertaken weekly, education of all participants on safe practices, induction of participants when using tools, overseeing of all activities on site, ensuring all participants are secure in their practices, in themselves and with each other.
Safe practices must be demonstrated and led at all times• Participation in the development & implementation of term projects both individually and in a group context with understanding of time frames, required materials, risks/hazards and desired outcomes in the context of each participant's needs.
• Maintain an emotionally safe environment for young people who have experienced trauma, may have personal and structural barriers, who may have significant shame or feelings of insecurity, who may be substance users and who may have a range of difficult presentations of behaviour.
• Work as a connected team leader with all other staff and volunteers, ensuring effective and useful programs are delivered that meet the individual needs of all participants.
• Receive direction from manager and successfully implement changes that may be necessary for optimal delivery of programs.
• Undertake training as required by Trek Learning Centre, further strengthening skills and capacity in delivering effective programs for vulnerable young people, strengthening personal capability, knowledge and skill.
• Oversee and provide individual case management from the team, for all young people attending Trek programs- ensuring we meet their needs, record data and information correctly, develop next step pathways, and advocate successfully within care team systems for the child or young person's wellbeing and best interests.
• To provide or oversee report writing to relevant agencies for individual children and young people, providing recommendations, trauma recovery & NDIS support responses at Trek and areas of evolution, strength and success for participants.
