Position Information
Carlton Public School is a robust K-6 primary school located in south Sydney suburb of Bexley with an enrolment of 630 students.
The students come from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
93% of students come from language backgrounds other than English and 1% identify as Indigenous Australians.
Carlton PS has a strong academic focus especially in growth and attainment for all students in literacy and numeracy.
The learning needs of our students are supported with a large team of specialist staff including EAL/D teachers and Learning and Support staff including teachers and learning support officers.
The school has a large and diverse Community Languages program which is valued by staff, students and the community alike.
Carlton PS provides a range of performing arts and sporting programs giving students the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities.
Promoting student voice is a priority and students are given opportunities to develop leadership skills.
A solid emphasis is placed on integrating technology in classroom learning programs.
Parental involvement is highly valued, and the Parents and Citizens' Association plays a vital role in supporting school programs and improving educational outcomes for all students.
Selection Criteria

Capacity to lead and maintain a collaborative culture that builds the capability of teachers and leaders maximising collective efficacy, focussed on research based, high-quality teaching and learning

An outstanding leader who values and understands student and staff wellbeing and is committed to ensuring every student is known, valued and cared for, engaging all students in their own learning and success.
Proven capacity to implement whole school data collection and analysis practices that facilitate data informed differentiation and tracking of student growth, ensuring support for learners from diverse cultural backgrounds.
General Selection Criteria

High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

.
Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

.
Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation.
As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis.
