GENERAL FUNCTION:
Assume operational, human resource, OH&S; / compliance, fleet / linehaul and customer service responsibilities for the Devonport depot and to ensure freight is delivered in a timely and efficient manner to consignees in North West Tasmania.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(other duties may be assigned):
· Ensure Company Policies and Procedures are adhered to.
· Ensure all employees and managed and supported in an appropriate manner to deliver efficient productivity whilst also building a team culture.
· Depot and driver personnel recruitment and staffing to ensure consistent coverage and workforce planning to support the variable day to day volume requirements.
· Ensure all services are delivered to the customer both external and internal, in a timely, cost-efficient manner.
· Intrastate linehaul planning and container retrieval and return -Devonport wharf.
· Ensure scanning is followed in accordance with requirements and compliance.
· Drive and implement continuous improvement processes.
· Manage the training of personnel as required, including any online certifications (such as AACA).
· Assist and motivate the Operations Supervisor and with the performance and management of team members.
· Lead depot personnel in developing a harmonious workplace with high productivity and morale.
· Be responsible for the payroll process and accurate capture of hours and processes attached to this.
· Ensure all customer queries and specific operational requirements are met and executed in a timely manner.
· Maintain depot and fleet vehicle cleanliness standards, service and repairs.
· Support to the General Manager and Administration Manager as required.
· The successful applicant must hold a current and valid drivers licence.




Holding an MR (Medium Rigid) licence would be an advantage but is not essential.
KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE:
· Ability to manage and motivate personnel.
· Flexibility to manage constant change within an often-pressured environment.
· Ability to work within reasonable deadlines and handle sometimes stressful situations.
· Solid understanding of safe work practices in a transport setting.
· Ability to ensure compliance with workplace practices and procedures.
· Maintain compliance with Workplace Health & Safety (WHS), Chain of Responsibility (CoR), NHVR requirements, Company polices and procedures.
· Basic PC skills (Microsoft) – such as Outlook for email, Excel and Word.
