About the role
Mater Hospital Springfield
is seeking experienced and motivated
Speech Pathologists
to join us on a
casual basis
(HP3).
As Mater's first new public hospital in over 60 years, this state-of-the-art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region.
The Speech Pathology team supports public and private patients across the co-located Mater Hospital Springfield and Mater Private Hospital Springfield, delivering care across diverse specialty areas including medical, surgical, ICU, NCCU, and emergency.
Salary range: $***** - $***** per hour + 25% casual loading
plus superannuation
and
access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900
+

What you'll be doing
As a
Casual Speech Pathologist
at Mater Hospital Springfield, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients presenting with communication and swallowing difficulties.
You'll work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centred care across a range of clinical areas.
You will contribute to the ongoing development of clinical services, participate in quality improvement activities, and engage in continuing professional development to ensure care is aligned with best practice and Mater's mission and values.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering high-quality speech pathology services for patients with communication and swallowing disorders in an acute hospital setting
Managing an appropriate caseload using strong time management and prioritisation skills
Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, patient-focused care
Participating in supervision, mentoring and clinical education of students




Contributing to service evaluation and continuous quality improvement activities
Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards and organisational policy
Promoting the role and value of speech pathology within the wider healthcare team
About you
You will have a minimum two years' experience in an acute hospital setting and be available to participate in weekend or on-call rosters as required.
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Speech Pathology
Membership or eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)
Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) status (or working towards it)
Eligibility for a Medicare provider number
Strong clinical skills in the assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, carers and colleagues
A collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams
A commitment to ongoing learning, quality improvement and reflective practice
