About the Opportunity
Ord Valley Aboriginal Health Service (OVAHS) is looking for a friendly and professional
Medical Receptionist Trainee
to join our team on a
full-time
basis.
As part of this role, the incumbent will be required to undertake relevant training and/or study and progress towards the completion of a certification relevant to the position.
In this important front-line role,
you will be the first point of contact for our patients, ensuring they receive a welcoming and supportive experience.
You will be responsible for
managing patient tracking, updating medical records, answering the phone, and providing administrative support
to our healthcare team.
This role is vital in helping us deliver
high-quality, culturally safe healthcare
to Aboriginal patients in the community.

You will be responsible for some
Medicare claim processing, patient record management, staff training, and community support
in navigating Medicare-related processes.
Due to the nature of the
Medical Receptionist Trainee
position, you must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander as per Section 50(d) of the Equal Prospect Act **** (WA).

About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:

Experience in reception, administration, or office work
(medical reception experience is a plus!).

Great interpersonal skills
, making patients feel welcome and supported.

Good time management and organisational abilities
, able to juggle multiple tasks efficiently.

Computer literacy
, including data entry and document formatting.
✔
A strong understanding of Aboriginal health issues
, or a willingness to learn.

The ability to work well in a team
and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals.
