Murrindindi Shire Council has an exciting chance for an experienced and motivated
Resource Recovery Project Lead
to deliver Council's waste and resource recovery services.
This is a diverse and rewarding leadership role where you will oversee kerbside collection services, landfill and resource recovery operations, contract management, customer service functions and circular economy initiatives.
You will play a key role in delivering innovative resource recovery outcomes, improving operational performance and supporting Council's vision for a sustainable future.
Working closely with contractors, government agencies, community groups and internal stakeholders, you will positively influence service delivery, environmental outcomes and Council's reputation within the community.
About this opportunity
In the role of
Resource Recovery Project Lead
, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across Council's resource recovery services.
You will drive service improvements, lead major projects, manage key contracts and identify opportunities to increase recycling, reduce landfill disposal and deliver better outcomes for our community.
Working collaboratively across Council and with external partners, you will:
Lead the management of Council's kerbside waste collection contract and contractor performance.
Oversee the operation of Council's landfill and resource recovery centres.
Drive initiatives that improve recycling, resource recovery and circular economy outcomes.
Manage operational budgets, business cases, grant applications and service improvement projects.
Monitor and report on service performance, waste diversion, landfill operations and customer service outcomes.
Build strong relationships with contractors, regulators, government agencies and the community.
Lead and support staff to deliver safe, efficient and customer-focused services.
Contribute to the implementation of Council's Resource Recovery Strategy and long-term sustainability objectives.
Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Demonstrated experience in waste management, resource recovery, environmental services or a related operational field.
Experience managing service contracts and contractor performance.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop and support teams.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and customer service skills.
Demonstrated experience in budget development, financial management and business planning.
Well-developed written communication skills, including report writing and preparation of business cases and Council reports.
Knowledge of waste management, resource recovery, circular economy principles and environmental compliance requirements.
Proven ability to deliver projects, drive continuous improvement and achieve measurable outcomes.
A current Victorian Driver Licence.
