About the role
Canberra Labor Club Group is seeking talented and enthusiastic Casual Cooks/Chefs to join our hospitality team.
We have two casual positions available- one at Canberra Labor Club in our Belconnen venue, and another at Central Social Club in the City.
As a Casual Cook/Chef, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality meals and exceptional dining experiences to our members and guests, contributing directly to the reputation and success of our establishment.
What you'll be doing
Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes, menus and quality standards
Maintaining a clean, hygienic and organised kitchen workspace at all times
Following food safety and hygiene protocols rigorously, including proper food handling and storage procedures
Working collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and timely service delivery
Assisting with food preparation, plating and presentation to meet club standards
Monitoring stock levels and assisting with food ordering and inventory management as required
Responding flexibly to kitchen demands during peak service periods
Contributing to the continuous improvement of menu offerings and kitchen efficiency
What we're looking for
Proven experience working in a professional kitchen environment as a cook or chef
Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and food safety standards
Current food hygiene certification or the ability to obtain one
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure
A genuine passion for cooking and delivering quality food
Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team




Flexibility to work casual hours including weekends and evenings as required
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
Experience with a range of cuisines or cooking styles is advantageous
Wok expereince is highly regarded (for our Belconnen venue)
