Do you love pulling things apart to see how they work?
If you're the kind of person who'd rather fix your dirt bike than buy a current one, who's always got a project car or motorbike on the go, or who's spent hours in the shed working out why something's not running right, we want to talk to you.
Widebay IT is looking for a
Trainee Print Technician
to join our Mackay team.
No print or IT experience needed.
What we're really after is someone who's
mechanically minded
, the kind of person who's comfortable with tools, isn't scared of getting hands dirty, and actually enjoys figuring out why a machine has stopped working.
About Widebay IT
Widebay IT has been part of the Bundaberg community since ****.
We're a local technology and print services business, not a call centre or a faceless national chain, and we back that up with genuine investment in the people who join us.
Why this role suits you if you're into cars, bikes, or engines:
A printer or copier is basically a small machine, full of motors, gears, belts, sensors, and moving parts, not that different to what's under the bonnet or inside an engine case.
If you've ever:
Changed brake pads, chains, sprockets, or belts
Diagnosed why an engine won't start or is running rough
Rebuilt or serviced a dirt bike, quad, or car
Pulled apart small engines, mowers, or machinery just to see how they tick
Enjoyed metalwork, auto, or engineering subjects at school
You already have the core skill this job needs.
We'll teach you the print and technology side, you bring the mechanical instinct and the willingness to learn.
How we train you:
This isn't a "figure it out as you go" job.
We invest properly in getting you skilled up:
FujiFilm manufacturer training
— in your first month, you'll complete the online components of FujiFilm's technical training program.
From there, we fly you down to Melbourne or Sydney for face-to-face training with FujiFilm's trainers, completing your first level of manufacturer certification, all within your first 12 months, fully funded by us
On-the-job mentoring
from our experienced technicians here in Mackay, applying what you learn in the classroom to real customer sites from day one
What you'll be doing:
Learning to service, repair, and maintain printers and copiers on-site at customer businesses across Mackay, The Whitsundays and the Bowen Basin
Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults (motors, rollers, sensors, drive systems)
Working with hand tools and diagnostic equipment
Driving to customer sites (a driver's licence is required)
What we're looking for:
17+ years old
A genuine interest in how mechanical things work
Reliable, practical, and willing to learn
A current driver's licence (or working towards one)
Willing to travel for training (fully funded by us)
Good attitude, this is a trade you build over time, not a job you master on day one
What you get:
A trip to Melbourne or Sydney for hands-on FujiFilm manufacturer training in your first year, no cost to you
Full mentoring from experienced technicians
A genuine trade skill
A local, long-standing Bundaberg business
If you'd rather be troubleshooting a fault than sitting behind a desk all day, this could be exactly the trade for you.
Apply now
— tell us about a car, bike, or machine you've worked on and what you learned from it.
