As part of our organisational redesign, this newly realigned leadership role enables Property, Facilities and Civic Services to create a more integrated, customer-focused service that supports Council's long-term priorities and growing community.
About the role:
This is a unique opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for one of Councils most significant operational portfolios.
Reporting to the General Manager Infrastructure & Operations you'll provide strategic and operational leadership across Property Services, Facilities Management, Civic Services and Property Development. You'll join a cohesive leadership team and drive cultural change, strengthen service integration, lead complex stakeholder relationships and help shape the future use and development of Council's property portfolio.
You will:
Build a Unified, Collaborative and Customer Centric Culture
Lead the development of a cohesive, high performing team with a solid customer focus.
Champion culture change, improve ways of working and create practical, lasting improvements that strengthen collaboration, accountability and service delivery.
Lead Stakeholder Management and Complex Issue Resolution
Build trusted relationships with tenants, contractors, community stakeholders and government agencies.
Provide calm, confident leadership through complex issues, proactively managing risks, resolving competing priorities and ensuring timely, transparent communication.
Strengthen Governance,
Compliance and Risk Management
Provide strategic oversight of council's property portfolio, ensuring legislative compliance, sound governance and effective risk management across property, facilities and civic services.
Lead informed decision-making across leasing, statutory obligations, asset management and regulatory requirements
Drive strategic Property Development and portfolio optimisation
Lead the strategic direction of council's property portfolios, supporting major redevelopment projects, long-term planning and sustainable asset outcomes.
Identify opportunities to achieve best value of council's property assets while delivering community benefit.
About you: You are a strategic and emotionally intelligent leader who is comfortable navigating complex environments.
You enjoy bringing people together and leading positive change. You’re equally confident managing operational delivery, strategic initiatives and politically sensitive matters.
You are motivated by reform, bring a practical approach to problem solving and know how to balance ambition with achievable outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Demonstrated senior leadership experience leading multidisciplinary Property, Facilities or Asset Management functions within a complex organisation.
Demonstrated financial management capability, including budgeting, procurement and contract management
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Property, Facilities Management, Asset Management, Construction, Business or a related discipline
Proven experience driving organisational change, integrating teams and building high-performing,
customer-focused cultures
Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to lead planning and delivery of effective stakeholder and community communications in a way that builds trust including on sensitive or contentious issues.
Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, across property, leasing, facilities management, governance and risk management frameworks
The ability to confidently navigate complexity, interpret legislation, solve problems and make balanced decisions
High emotional intelligence, excellent communication skills and a collaborative leadership style that builds trust across diverse stakeholders
