Due to upcoming leave within the finance team, they are seeking an Assistant Accountant or developing Accountant for an initial three-month temporary assignment commencing in August.
The Role
Working closely with the Finance Manager and broader finance team, you will provide hands-on support across month-end and day-to-day accounting activities.
The business operates across eight entities and completes a fast-paced five-day month-end close. The role will suit someone who is comfortable working through a high volume of transactions, reconciliations and supporting workpapers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with month-end close activities across multiple entities
- Preparing month-end workpapers and supporting documentation
- Completing bank and credit card reconciliations
- Reconciling approximately 30 bank and credit accounts
- Processing and reviewing general accounting transactions
- Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations
- Supporting the Senior Accountant during periods of leave
- Assisting with UK VAT requirements and related documentation
- Investigating and resolving reconciliation discrepancies
- Supporting other finance activities as required

The Successful Candidate
You may currently be working as an Assistant Accountant, Junior Accountant or Accountant and will have enough practical experience to quickly become productive within a busy finance environment.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience supporting month-end close
- Strong bank and credit card reconciliation experience
- Experience preparing accounting workpapers
- A sound understanding of general ledger transactions
- Solid Excel and systems skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to manage competing deadlines
- A proactive and adaptable working style
- Confidence working within a fast-paced environment
Exposure to multi-entity or international businesses would be highly regarded. Previous UK VAT experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
Most importantly, you will be enthusiastic, commercially minded and ready to hit the ground running.
