Conference Manager

The gig

AST Management runs 11-12 professional conferences a year across Australia and New Zealand, covering everything from mental health and domestic and family violence prevention to disaster management, Indigenous wellbeing and neurodivergence. Big, meaningful events. Real delegates. Real impact.

We're recruiting a Conference Manager to plan, own and deliver a portfolio of 3–4 conferences a year, start to finish. You'll set the strategy, manage the budget, lead your coordinators and suppliers, and make sure everyone in the room walks away having genuinely learned something. This isn't a single event gig — you'll have your own patch of the portfolio, all year round.

Budgets, contracts, registrations, logistics, accommodation — you keep every plate spinning accurately, because you know one missed detail can snowball into a problem onsite.

You lead, you don't just manage.

Your coordinators, committees, contractors and suppliers know exactly what's expected of them, because you've brought them together and pointed them at the same goal.

You handle volume without blinking.

Three or four conferences on the go at once doesn't rattle you. You prioritise, you plan, and you keep moving.

The result is what matters.

Delegates leave having learned something real. Clients and stakeholders get a service that reflects well on AST. That's the whole job, really.

Registration and budget targets across every conference in your portfolio.

• 3. Build the strategy. Understand the topic, market and competition, and create a genuine point of difference.

• 4. Run the operation. Every administrative and operational function, accurate and on time.

• 5. Lead the team. Coordinators, contractors and suppliers, working in synergy, delivering for the client every time.
