Lead the Voice of Rural Transport in Western Australia
The Livestock & Rural Transport Association of Western Australia (LRTAWA) is seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead one of Western Australia's most respected rural industry organisations.
Representing livestock transporters, rural carriers and businesses servicing the agricultural supply chain, the LRTAWA has been the leading advocate for safe, efficient and sustainable rural transport for more than four decades.
This is a unique opportunity for a strategic leader who is passionate about advocacy, stakeholder engagement and supporting an industry that is essential to Western Australia's economy.
About the Association
The LRTAWA is an incorporated association committed to:
- Promoting the development of livestock and rural transport, and the road transport industry that supports Australia's primary industries.
- Promoting high standards of animal welfare in livestock transport.
- Advocating for safe, effective and sustainable livestock, rural freight and road transport operations.
- Representing the interests of livestock transporters, rural carriers and the broader agricultural transport sector to governments, regulators and the community.
- Identifying industry challenges and developing practical transport solutions.
- Working collaboratively with industry organisations and stakeholders.
- Supporting members through advocacy, information and services that advance the objectives of the Association.
The Role
Reporting directly to the President and Management Committee,
the Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management and administration of the Association.
The successful applicant will provide strategic advice to the Management Committee while ensuring the Association delivers strong advocacy outcomes, sound governance and exceptional service to members.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will:
- Lead the day-to-day operations and management of the Association.
- Implement the strategic direction established by the Management Committee.
- Ensure compliance with all legislative, financial and governance obligations.
- Manage the Association's finances and resources responsibly.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with members, government agencies, industry organisations and stakeholders.
- Develop and implement advocacy strategies that deliver positive outcomes for members.
- Identify emerging issues, risks and opportunities affecting the livestock and rural transport industry.
- Prepare reports, submissions, correspondence and policy documents.
- Coordinate meetings, events and member engagement activities.
About You
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong leadership and organisational management experience.
- Demonstrated communication,
advocacy and stakeholder engagement skills.
- An understanding of corporate governance and financial management.
- The ability to work independently while supporting a volunteer Management Committee.
- Experience working with government, industry associations or member-based organisations.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding written communication and presentation abilities.
Experience within the transport, agricultural or livestock industries would be highly regarded but is not essential.
