Role Description
The Trainer and Assessor – Diploma of Community Services is a part-time, on-site role based in North Melbourne, VIC. The role involves planning and delivering engaging training sessions aligned with the Diploma of Community Services curriculum, using a range of teaching strategies and learning resources. The Trainer and Assessor will design and update learning materials, facilitate classroom-based and practical learning activities, and provide guidance and academic support to learners. Daily responsibilities include assessing student work against competency standards, maintaining accurate records of assessments and progress,
and ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality assurance requirements. The role also involves collaborating with colleagues on continuous improvement initiatives and staying current with community services sector trends and best practices.
Qualifications
- Relevant vocational and academic qualifications, such as a Diploma or higher in Community Services or a related discipline, and current industry experience.
- Training and assessment capabilities, including a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent), experience delivering competency-based education, and strong session planning skills.
- Knowledge of community services practice, legislation, and ethical frameworks, with the ability to integrate real-world case studies and industry standards into teaching.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom facilitation skills, with the ability to support diverse learners and foster an inclusive learning environment.
- Administrative and compliance skills, including accurate record-keeping, familiarity with regulatory requirements in higher and vocational education, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with digital learning tools and basic computer skills, including learning management systems, online resources, and standard office software.
- Demonstrated commitment to student-centered teaching, continuous professional development, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary academic team.
