SAFETY MANAGER | FIFO PNG | UNDERGROUND MININGAn outstanding opportunity is available for an experienced Safety Manager to join a major underground mining operation in Papua New Guinea on a FIFO rotational roster.
This role will suit a proven mining safety leader who thrives in complex operational environments and has strong experience across underground mining, high-risk activities, contractor management, and emergency response.The Prospect: Reporting directly into senior operational leadership, you will take full ownership of site-wide Health, Safety & Emergency Management systems across underground mining, processing operations, logistics corridors, camp infrastructure, and associated operational activities.
This is a hands‐on leadership role requiring strong field presence, operational engagement, and the ability to drive a proactive "Zero Harm" culture across a remote mining workplace.Key Responsibilities:Lead and embed a robust site-wide safety cultureOversee all HSE systems, compliance, and governanceDrive hazard identification, risk assessments,



and critical control managementLead incident investigations using ICAM or equivalent methodologiesManage emergency response preparedness and crisis management systemsConduct site inspections, audits, and compliance reviewsMentor operational leaders and supervisors on safety accountabilityOversee contractor HSE performance and complianceDeliver executive‐level HSE reporting and performance metricsThe Ideal Candidate:Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Mining Engineering, or related disciplineMinimum 10+ years' experience within mining safety leadership rolesProven underground mining experience is essentialStrong understanding of mining legislation, risk management, and safety systemsICAM Investigation Certification highly regardedISO * Lead Auditor qualification advantageousStrong leadership capability across multicultural and remote operational environmentsExperience managing safety within high-risk mining operationsThis prospect offers the chance to play a key leadership role within a growing mining operation while gaining exposure to a technically challenging and highly dynamic workplace.
