Based in Cairns, this temporary Ranger position offers the chance to lead a small team caring for some of Queensland's most valued national parks and protected areas. As a Ranger (OO5) working in the Cairns South team, you will supervise a small team and support the Ranger in Charge to deliver a wide range of park management activities across protected areas in the Cairns region. The role includes planning and delivering projects related to visitor management, asset maintenance, fire, pest and weed management, natural and cultural resource management,
compliance activities and emergency response operations.
You will help coordinate work programs, manage resources, maintain records and reports, provide customer service and education, and build positive relationships with Traditional Owners, local communities, government agencies and other stakeholders. Solid leadership, communication and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and support others to achieve shared outcomes.
Experience in conservation, land management, natural resource management or a related field will be highly regarded. A current unrestricted manual driver's licence is mandatory. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading by example, mentoring staff and working in a hands-on setting where no two days are the same.
