Claims Review Specialist

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Claims Trustee Review team at Mercer Super. This role can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Adelaide. This is a hybrid role that requires working at least three days a week in the office.

Responsibilities

- Review claim case files and make decisions on insured benefits, deceased estate distributions and objections to deceased estate decisions.
- Assess and, where appropriate, challenge insurer decisions relating to death, disability, illness and injury claims.
- Represent Mercer Super in dealings with external stakeholders, including insurers, auditors, Risk and Compliance, Legal and AFCA.
- Monitor trustee service level requirements and ensure compliance with the Mercer Delegations Approval Policy.
- Manage case escalations, identify process or system issues, and support corrective action.
- Contribute to projects and provide technical input to support the best financial interests of members.

What you need to have

- Demonstrated experience in superannuation, financial services or life insurance claims management.
- Experience making claims-related decisions on behalf of a trustee or in a comparable governance environment.
- A sound understanding of trustee responsibilities, superannuation regulation, claims management and relevant insurance legislation.
- Robust written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement and excellent attention to detail.
