Law Transport is seeking reliable and safety-focused Yard Hands to support our depot operations.
These are hands-on roles suited to people who take pride in maintaining an organised yard and helping drivers and the operations team keep freight moving safely and efficiently.
Key duties
Key responsibilities include
Load and unload trucks and trailers within the depot
Assist drivers with loading, load restraint and securing freight
Prepare trailers and toolboxes with the appropriate load-restraint equipment
Inspect, organise and maintain load-restraint equipment
Monitor load-restraint equipment and consumable supplies and advise when replacements or additional stock are required
Wash trucks, trailers and other equipment
Maintain a clean, protected and presentable depot, including general yard, shed and grounds maintenance
Identify and report damaged equipment, unsafe conditions or maintenance requirements
Follow all workplace health and safety, chain of responsibility and company procedures
Provide general operational support as reasonably required
Willing to adopt a secure work culture due to continuously working around trucks, trailers, freight and mobile equipment
Licences and tickets
Current unrestricted driver's licence is essential
Current or open to obtaining forklift licence
Current or open to front-end loader ticket
Hours and roster
Two Yard Hand positions are initially available
The roles will operate across the depot's dual-shift roster
Employees will be paid an hourly rate
Regular Saturday work may be required, generally between six and eight hours
Applicants should be available for early starts and rostered shift coverage
