About the role

LA and MM Hancock Builders are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Apprentice Carpenter to join our team in Toowoomba, QLD. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to develop your carpentry skills under the guidance of experienced professionals.

As an apprentice, you will work on a variety of residential building projects, gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of the carpentry trade whilst completing your formal apprenticeship qualification. This role is integral to our team's success and provides the foundation for a rewarding career in the building trades.

Key responsibilities

- Assist experienced carpenters with the construction, installation and repair of timber structures, frameworks and fixtures
- Measure, mark and cut timber and other materials to precise specifications using hand and power tools
- Learn and apply proper techniques for installing doors, windows, flooring, roofing and other carpentry elements
- Prepare work sites by organizing materials, tools and equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintain a clean and safe working setting, adhering to all health and safety regulations and site requirements
- Assist with reading and interpreting building plans, specifications and technical drawings
- Perform basic maintenance on tools and equipment
- Support the team in completing projects on time and to the required standard of quality
- Undertake formal apprenticeship training and complete required coursework and assessments

What we're looking for

- A genuine passion for carpentry and the building trades
- Completion of Year 12 or equivalent educational qualification as a minimum
- Ability to obtain or willingness to undertake a carpentry apprenticeship with the relevant training provider
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labor and work at heights where required
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and workmanship




- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Good communication skills and a willingness to learn from experienced colleagues
- Reliability and punctuality, with a solid work ethic
- A commitment to health and safety standards on all work sites
- Valid driver's license is required
- Previous experience in construction or related trades is advantageous but not essential
